LOG BOSS FASTENER

A case hardened and coated carbon steel screw designed specifically for use in construction of log and timber frame structures.  Other ideal uses include landscape timbers, deck ledger boards and structural supports, and wooden playground equipment.  Specially designed “Torx” driving system helps eliminate spin out of driver when installing fasteners.  Head design allows for easy counter-sinking and removal if needed.  If you want a fastener with maximum holding power, superior strength and extra pull-down, then you want Log Boss.

3 inches of aggressive, large diameter thread provides the grip necessary for pulling even the most difficult logs into place while the flatter flange on head increases the holding power. A lubricant coating and relief wings reduce driving forces required to make installation as easy as possible.

Log Boss Fasteners are available in lengths of 6", 7", 8", 9", 10", 11", 12", 13", 14" 15", 16" & 17" and are packaged 250 per container. Shank diameter -  0.212 in.

Installation:
Follow log home manufacturer’s specifications regarding size and placement of fasteners.
Drill should be ½” capacity, high torque/low rpm for optimum driving performance.
Fastener must be installed such that full thread penetration into the main member is achieved.

Fastener must be of sufficient length so as to allow full passage of threads entirely through first log into member fastening against.

When countersinking is achieved, drilling force must be stopped so as no to create “spin out, or stripping” of fastener. If this occurs, another fastener should be placed in close proximity of the stripped fastener.

Under no circumstance should the head of the fastener be struck with a hammer to “pre-set” the fastener, as this action may cause the fastener to fracture just below the head and could cause the head to pop off prematurely.

Pre-drilled holes may be necessary in extremely dense wood.

In the event of the fastener coming into contact with a knot, it may cause the fastener to change direction and bypass the knot, or it may cause the fastener to break.
